If you are here looking for a clay mask that will instantly make your skin whiter and change the way you look, then this is not the blog for you. If you are here to find out about a clay mask that promises to deep clean your face, then yes please do read on as the title of this product means nothing to me. When I purchased this product I was just looking for a face mask that does the job and Lotus being a trusted brand for my family since my early years, this seemed like a good choice. Little did I know what the purpose of this mask was. Yes, I was that naïve even few years ago. Not that I am kind of an expert now. I still mess up in my skincare choices but now I read stuffs more on the packaging than earlier. So, here I am about to share my experience with this product from Lotus Herbals in all its glory.
Packaging This product comes in a plastic tube that has a flip open lid. Quite basic packaging with an image of a clay mask in the front and the details at the back. Nothing stunning but yes okay. The thick paste that comes out of this tube is very much similar to a toothpaste. It has a nice fragrance, which I think is not required as it might trigger off people with sensitive noses. I mean skincare products need not have fragrance, let alone strong fragrance in them. So, not quite happy with this. Consistency and Application Like I said, it has a toothpaste like consistency that is easy to spread on your face. All you need to do is wash your face with a face wash before, so that your pores are open and then blot the wetness off your face. Then gently spread this paste on your face and let it dry. There is no specific instruction as to how long you need to keep it on your face, as it takes about 25 mins to completely dry on my skin. As soon as it dries off, just wash it off. You are supposed to get bright, “white” skin as there are berberry and liquorice extracts in this mask. These ingredients are expected to lighten your complexion. Trust me I have used this for quite some time, as I paid for it and I want to get the value out of this product, nothing like “whitening” or “lightening” happens. Not that I was looking for either. I was just looking for a mask that cleans your pores deeply and makes your skin feel fresh and that is what I got. I have no complaints from the product as to how it performs. It is a clay mask and it is supposed to clean your face. It does that. Period. There is no requirement of false marketing. There is nothing whitening or lightening effect in this one. Not that I care but there are tons of people still you care about the fairness bandwagon. So, a trusted brand like Lotus Herbals, which even our mothers used to use need to correct their marketing strategy. No product can change the way a person looks from a skincare perspective. If your complexion is wheatish, dusky, or medium, you will remain that. I am a wheatish girl and no way I can become fair and I love my skin color. So, the product is just about good but I seriously have issues with the false promotion and marketing. Quantity and Price Point You get this product in two sizes. 60gms, which retails for Rs.190 and 120gms, which retails for Rs. 345. Online you can even get this product for cheaper prices. However, I will not recommend this product to anyone solely because of its name. There are thousands of girls especially in their teenage who do not have to go through this regressive thought of fairness means beautiful. Had this just been a clay mask, would have recommended it perhaps, as a mask it does its job. That’s about it. It is not supposed to do anything else and it doesn’t. Final Thoughts Regardless of the product, it is due to its name I will not recommend this product. You can live without this mask as well. It is nothing exceptional. It is just about okay and does its job. That’s it. |
