The Ever Cheerful and Merry Fragrance – Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Mist from The Body Shop9/23/2020 I have never come across a person who doesn’t like the scent of Cherry Blossom flowers from Japan. I know, in India no one gets to smell how the original cherry blossoms smell like in Japan. However, the versions that we get here are the ones that we have to do with. From body lotions to creams, body mists to perfumes, Japanese Cherry Blossom always wins the heart of fragrance lovers across the country and the world. Being no exception to this huge craze around cherry blossoms, I tend to reach out for every cherry blossom fragrance and the body mist from The Body Shop has been my longtime companion in this love for cherry blossom. Believe it or not this was my first Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance so I cherish it more than any other brand’s version of this scent. So, here is every detail about this fragrance.
Packaging Every TBS body mist has their classic packaging of transparent cylindrical glass bottle with a black lid. The lids are usually made of very thin type of metal, but they are not super sturdy as they can come off easily. I love the fact that The Body Shop doesn’t use plastic for fragrances and glass bottles. To few people, this maybe an inconvenience as carrying a glass bottle around is risky. However, my bottles have been perfectly safe during my travels or regular visit to the office. So, this is never an issue for me. All over the bottle, there is a sticker with transparent floral patterns in black and at the center of the bottle, the name of the fragrance is written against a pink background. Overall, from the packaging perspective, I can give this fragrance 9 out of 10 strictly because of the flimsy lid and nothing else. Scent A classic cherry blossom fragrance is something you can never go wrong with. Same goes for this one. It is delicate, sweet, and floral fragrance. The top note in this body mist comprises cherry blossom petals, at the heart you get a hint of magnolia, while at the base you get a touch of hinoki wood accords. Together, they create a subtle and surreal fragrance that you will go sniffing all the way. It is an amazing fragrance that is great for sensitive noses. This will never give you a headache as it is mild, gentle and comforting to the senses. It is kind of a fragrance that can instantly cheery you up and make you feel happy. For the scent, I can give this fragrance 9 out of 10. It is kind of a safe fragrance to use and gift as well. Longevity and Silage This is where the fragrance’s rating in my eyes drops slightly because the lasting power for the body mists are not incredible. I have heard and read tons of reviews where the reviewer has mentioned about the lack of longevity in the body mists from The Body Shop. However, on my skin these last for something around 3hrs – 4hrs, which is great because there are several EDTs or eau de toilettes in the market with that kind of lasting power. So, I am not complaining much on this ground a lot. Yes, definitely if the lasting power and silage is worked upon, it will be great. The silage is decent but after a while people won’t recognize or smell this on you at all. After reapplication, definitely you get the same performance cycle from the start. For this category, I can give 8 out of 10. Quantity and Price Point All The Body Shop’s body mists come in 100 ml bottles and their prices vary. This one in particular is expensive as it retails for Rs. 1,195, which is quite a lot for a body mist. The price point would have been a bit better justified if the fragrance lasted or projected sufficiently for long hours. Since that is not the case here, it is overpriced. The fragrance is fabulous but the price should have been lesser. This is a category where I can give 6 out of 10. If you consider this to be lenient then I may say that their products are organically made or the elements are organically procured. Which is why, this is the least I can go for them. After all, organic stuffs are expensive. Final Thoughts Hm... My final thoughts is not hard to guess I think. The cons are the price point and longevity, but I am ready to overlook that as the scent itself is stunning. So, I would recommend you to try this fragrance for sure. However, be a smart buyer and order in your fragrance during the discounts that keep on running on The Body Shop’s website. You can enjoy their fragrance and save some money as well. Experience Burst of Floral freshness with English Dawn Gardenia Fragrance Mist from The Body Shop8/5/2020 Do you like the scent of the first rain in the monsoon season? Do you enjoy how a garden with various flowers, specially white florals smell right after being washed by the rain? Do you picture yourself sitting close to a garden and watching the pitter patter of the rain drops on the beautiful white petals of tuberose, jasmine or gardenia? If you have answered any of these questions yes, then it is time for you to try and experience English Dawn Gardenia Fragrance Mist from The Body Shop.
I am a floral girl. I usually like all floral fragrances, with few exceptions here and there. However, when it comes to white florals, they never fail to surprise me by revealing how much I enjoy those. That is precisely what post is going to be all about. Packaging Like all The Body Shop fragrance mist, this one also comes in a beautiful glass bottle with impression of florals imprinted throughout the body of the bottle. It’s classy. That is the only word that comes to my mind when I see the bottle. The packaging could be an on point 100%, if the lid was a bit better. This is kind of an issue with all The Body Shop’s fragrances. The cap is black in color, which complements the look and feel of the rest of the bottle. The drawback is that it is not sturdy enough to hold the bottle in place. If you are not careful, you may end up messing or destroying the bottle. So, never hold this bottle with its cap. It is secure enough to keep the fragrance inside, but not enough to hold on to the weight of the bottle. Scent Without even divulging any details of this fragrance, I can jump with joy and say it smells divine and secures complete 100% in this aspect. Stunning, absolutely stunning fragrance; nothing less, nothing more. It is soft, delicate, subtle yet strong in the freshness category. It has a blend of Gardenia and Tuberose or Rajanigandha; for the Indian context. This blend smells calming to the senses, lifts your spirits up and makes you feel happy; at least it does to me. It’s mild yet intoxicating, which is why it is quite suited to every nose; even sensitive ones. The only thing you need to keep in mind is you need to have some kind of affinity towards white florals as in tuberose, jasmine or gardenia to love this fragrance. If your type of fragrance doesn’t fall into this category, then better not waste your money on this. Longevity and Silage Like all body mists from The Body Shop, this one also lasts not more than 2hrs. This is kind of a bummer, given the price point at which this retails. However, the bottle is sleek enough to slip into your purse and carry around with you, so that whenever you need a spritz you can oblige yourself. The silage is good as people around you can sniff it quite well, but only till it lasts on your skin. With fresh reapplication, the projection is also intensified. Quantity and Price Point For a 100ml bottle, this mist is available at a price point of Rs. 1195. Yes, it is expensive considering the fact that it is a body mist. However, if you consider the scent you are receiving inside the bottle, I think you can give it a try. I will be honest here, when I wanted to purchase this bottle, I thought it is too expensive and it was lesser than the current price. But now that I have used up almost half of the bottle, I will not think twice before I place another order for this. The only thing is I will be keeping an eye out for some discount. I only buy these perfumes on discounts, otherwise they are actually too much to put your money in. So, in case you want to check out various discounts, you can try thebodyshop.in, Myntra, Nykaa, Amazon, and Flipkart. There are sales going on throughout the year, and I would suggest you check out these perfumes during those sales. Final Thoughts Lasts less and cost more. Hmm… Despite these factors, I will purchase this body mist again just because of the great scent. Cannot ignore the fact that I have nothing like this in my collection, so this is going to be a repeat purchase for me all the time. In case, I feel like want to try the EDT version of the same body mist, I might even do that. Nonetheless, it is a great fragrance and cannot rave about it enough. Am currently on a drive for the products from The Body Shop. From their shower gels to fragrance mists, face washes to creams and perfumes, I have been enjoying everything. My recent discovery and love from their range of fragrance mists is the Atlas Mountain Rose fragrance mist. If floral fragrances tick with you or if rose is one of the main accords that you like in a fragrance, you are surely in for a spicy delight here. Let’s take a look at this fragrance mist in detail.
Packaging Like any other fragrance mist from The Body Shop, this one also comes in a glass bottle with a black lid. I believe it is some kind of metal and not plastic as it doesn’t sound like plastic, but what it is exactly am not aware of. However, the lid is not at all sturdy. The people at The Body Shop must take a note of this point and work to make the lid fit better. Don’t get me wrong it sits on the bottle nicely but it is not sturdy enough and comes off easily. The name of the fragrance is written against a pink background which is further placed against a transparent sticker with black pattern on it. Kind of a typical packaging from The Body Shop. Scent Rose crushed and brewed with all beautiful spices. That is exactly what you get when you smell this. There are accords of cassis buds and amber to make this beautiful scent bloom on your skin. It is light and refreshing, especially when you apply on to your skin right after shower. It has a dewy feel to it which makes the floral accords blend in nicely with each other, which furthermore works wonders on the skin. Longevity and Silage Considering the fact that it is a body mist we are talking about, the longevity and silage are not that great. However, in not so hot and humid climate this fragrance mists lasts more than 3hrs on skin, which is great for a body mist. There are EDTs in the market which fair something around this timeframe, so I think it is great. You can furthermore layer it up with similar smelling fragrances or shower gels, which will make this scent hold on to your pulse points for a longer span. If this fragrance manages to impress you, then you can very well carry it around with you; assuming there is no issue carrying a perfume around. It doesn’t project a lot, unless you overspray it on your skin, clothes and hair. Still, that doesn’t mean that you will put this on and nobody will be able to detect it. People around you will notice it for the first time you interact with them and after that they will get used to the smell so that it will no longer be highly detectable. But, if they come close to you or hug you, they will surely get a sniff of this beautiful fragrance, if you spray this properly on your pulse points. Quantity and Price Point The 100ml bottle is priced at Rs. 1195. Sounds too much? Well if you check the fragrance bottled inside, you may able to change your mind on that price tag. However, cost and worth are two very different things. If you think it is worth it, then cost doesn’t matter. You can save up to buy a quality product. On the other hand, if you are convinced otherwise, no matter how much money you are willing to spare your purse strings will still be tightly shut. You can also take advantage of the various sales that are always on active on either Flipkart, Amazon, Nykaa or thebodyshop.in and save additional money. Final Thoughts In case you want to take a sniff of this before investing in a bottle of this, I urge you to go to any nearby The Body Shop store after the lockdown is uplifted. If you like blind buying then notes are most crucial for you. So, as mentioned above, it is purely a floral with a spicy touch to it. If that rings a bell in your ears in the most pleasant way possible, then you can try this without taking too much of a risk. There is an EDT variant of this as well, but that is pricey compared to this one. So instead of delving straight into the EDT, I suggest you try the fragrance mist first. If you like it then you can go ahead and invest in the EDT version of the same mist. Am currently in love with all the Indian brands who have ventured out into the fragrance community to offer some memorable experience to fragrance lovers. My current crush in this Indian fragrance brands is Ital Veloce. This Mumbai based brand has a wide range of fragrance mists and eau de perfume roller balls. The one that I am going to talk about today is Love Forever. This one is an oriental fragrance and a massive crowd pleaser. I know we are not supposed to be out in the crowd now with the lockdown; but this review is for the time that is in store for us after the lockdown.
Packaging This has pretty much the standard packaging of body mists; with a plastic bottle and a plastic cap. The cap is not that sturdy so it can easily come off. There is a nice sticker on top of the transparent bottle which houses a pink colored liquid. Pretty much basic packaging. Scent The basic packaging houses a nice scent. However, it is quite a generic smelling scent. It is not something out of the blue. The top notes include absinthe, freesia and peach. The middle notes are of rose and subtle sandalwood, and the base notes consists vanilla, woody cashmere, amber and musk. All these blend into a beautiful scent that will linger on your skin for a long time. However, it is not something that you have not smelt before. It is a safe purchase as everybody who likes to smell sweet will love it. Everyone around you will also enjoy this fragrance on you. Longevity and Silage For a mist, this works beautifully and lasts quite long. On my skin it lasts more than 6hrs, which is great for a body mist. It projects decently as well, so that people around you will surely take a note of you once you are around them. Although this is a mist, I kind of feel this will work best in the cooler months. Why? Because in the heat, it kind of gives a sticky feeling to my skin. On the clothes though, it works just fine. Nonetheless, quite a nice mist that offers an aromatic feeling to its wearer. Quantity and Price Point This one comes in a huge 7.1 fl oz or 210 ml bottle, which will last you quite a long time. This huge bottle is priced at a good price point of Rs. 699. There are of course cheaper alternatives to this fragrance in the market, but you may not get the same longevity like this one. So, this is worth a shot. I am not aware of the offline presence of this brand, but the online presence is quite good. You can easily get this at Flipkart, Nykaa and Amazon; maybe at discounted prices as well. Final Thoughts Surely a good fragrance, but not unique. If your agenda is to just smell good, then this will definitely live up to your expectation and exceed it as well, if I may say so. However, if you wish to stand out in the crowd, then this one is not for you. Overall, a good fragrance that imparts nice, warm, and cozy experience, but not uniqueness. It is no surprise that products from the US based brand Bath and Body Works are not inexpensive in India. Well, they may be a drugstore brand in the US, but in India, it definitely falls anything beyond the drugstore category. So, if you are a fragrance lover and yet don’t want to splurge as much as a whopping Rs. 1295 for a bottle of their fragrance mist, then you can try this much affordable alternative – Ultimate Desire by Dorall Collection.
Dorall Collection happens to be a brand from UAE that works with lots of impression perfumes. Now, I don’t know whether this is also a perfume created as an impression of A Thousand Wishes from Bath and Body Works, but they smell almost exactly same to my nose. Let’s take a look at why. Perfume Notes The notes in A Thousand Wishes include pink presecco, crystal peonies, gilded amber and amaretto crème. While the notes in Ultimate Desire include similar notes such as, peony, amber, and almond cream. However, it is not restricted to these notes alone as there are more notes in Ultimate Desire than you get in A Thousand Wishes. To know more about the notes in Ultimate Desire, check out my review of this perfume, here. Overall, both are creamy, edible and gourmandish perfumes which smell quite identical and if I may say Ultimate Desire has more layers in it than A Thousand Wishes. Packaging When talking about the packaging, I cannot seem to pick out any preference point as both have stunning packaging. You can take a look at the image only to understand that both would look absolutely great on anyone’s vanity. So, when it comes to packaging, I think both are equally nice. Longevity and Silage Both have good longevity and silage but since one is a mist and another one is EDP, there is a basic difference here. A Thousand Wishes is a mist, so reapplication is part of its lifecycle. Whereas, Ultimate Desire is an EDP, which lasts forever on your skin and clothes. So, it is not necessary for you to take it around with you for reapplication. Price Point The major difference in these similar smelling fragrances is the price point. Where, A Thousand Wishes is available at Rs. 1295, Ultimate Desire is available at Rs. 599. Yes, kind of at half price. Now, if you even get discount on A Thousand Wishes, you can grab it at Rs. 799. On the other hand, on discount you can get your hands on Ultimate Desire at as low as Rs, 350. So, even on discount, it is cheaper than A Thousand Wishes. Final Thoughts In closure, I will say that A Thousand Wishes is a stunning fragrance. I love it so much that I cannot even say enough to justify the beauty it is. However, the fact is that it is not accessible and affordable for a lot of people in India. So, if you think you can access and afford this beauty, you should definitely go ahead and try this one. However, if you still want to experience the great smelling mist, you can try the Ultimate Desire EDP by Dorall Collection. Trust me, no one will ever be able to tell the difference that you are not wearing A Thousand Wishes. After all, that is what a dupe or impression perfumes are supposed to do, right? So, this is for those people who want to enjoy the fragrance mist from Bath and Body Works but are unable to do that. Whichever way works for you, bottom line is do try this fragrance. |
