With jingle bells round the corner and the excitement of going to a new place building up inside me, I moved out of the house on my way to the airport. Only this time it was different. I was not alone on my ride. I was accompanied by my husband. Yes, this was my first trip with my husband and we were off to God’s own land, or Kerala.
Punctual is a term which got itself a new definition from my husband who prefers to reach any destination at least half an hour before the scheduled time. So, we were there at the Kolkata airport 4hours earlier than required. With ample time at our disposal, we took a tour of the airport to see the new additions to the already familiar place; of course not forgetting to shop a bit. After all the possible shopping done, we boarded the flight. Now, this was my husband’s first flight so he was a tad nervous. Poor boy, he couldn’t even enjoy his lunch on the flight as he was scared that the plane might crash or fall down from the sky any moment. Nonetheless, we reached Bangalore from where we would be re-routed to Kochi. A smooth ride, and this time my husband enjoyed the ride a bit as he felt assured that the plane won’t land in water or any untoward incident won’t occur. Safe and sound, we reached Kochi only to find it raining due to a depression in the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. While it rained, we waited for our driver to pick us up. A small but naïve place, Kochi airport had an old world charm. The most interesting thing we learned while we waited for our ride to the hotel was that the airport runs on solar power and it is world recognized for this remarkable feature. As they claim, it is indeed a green airport, which is surrounded by greenery everywhere. Finally, our driver found us and we made our way to the city of Kochi amidst pitter patter of raindrops. |
