I don’t live anywhere close to a sea, lake, pond or bog for that matter. The only thing I can remotely call a water body is a big wide drain beside the place I used to stay previously. This was in a residential complex, where I have spent about 15 years of my life and hence, it has got a very unique space in my mind. In this dream, I find myself sitting in the balcony of my previous house with Sumo (a.k.a Sumauli from my previous dreams) and sharing a nice evening chat over a cup of tea. Although, Sumo is not a tea person but she was happily sipping some and enjoying the setting sun.
Relaxing in my hanging balcony, we were taking in the wonderful ambience of the seaside. Yes... that big drain beside my house had somehow turned into a beautiful, serene and peaceful sea with little waves now and then. To the surprise of my conscious mind, I was happily smiling and telling Sumo, “See, I told you, you will like it. Wait till you meet the sweet animal life here.” Just then I saw a bunch of seagulls and penguins merrily walking on the shore towards my balcony. Yeah, you pictured it right. Seagulls were walking and not flying. They may be tired or something and so instead of flying, there were taking a quick evening stroll. God knows!!! I remember my neighbour, who used to live in the flat just opposite my house. He used to own a spitz dog, which was my object of interest back then as well. Now, this dog came out of the house into their balcony and started talking with the seagulls and penguins. The most amazing part of this conversation was the dog was chatting in his own language, which the seagulls were quite capable of understanding. And, their replies in seagullish and penguinish languages were equally comprehendible to this dog. Weird, right!!! Furthermore, something interesting exchanged between the two groups of animals that made the penguins happy and clap their wings in excitement and acknowledgement. Absolutely bizarre...!!! Nonetheless, the scenery in front of us was intriguing enough to keep us hooked to this conversation without human subtitles. As dusk was giving way for the evening to set in, my mother was preparing peyaji (a snack item made of onions, gram flour and chilli) inside the house. As my mother summoned us to come inside and have this mouth-watering food, Sumo jumped and threw away the cup and ran inside my inside. Peyaji being a particular favourite food of Sumo, she couldn’t wait a moment longer at the prospect of having it and gave the tea cup for a toss. It is with the breaking of the cup, I woke up in the morning to realise I am in my present house with not even a big drain around to imagine it to be a sea... However, the thought of seeing seagulls and penguins walking right beside my house was crazy yet nice enough to make the day. After all, it is not a regular day affair that you get exotic species visiting you, isn’t it? |
