If you check the market you will always find great moisturizers that are rich and hydrating for normal or dry skin. I mean, the market is swamped by them. But, it is very hard to find one good moisturizing product for the oily skin in the market. Of late, I have been completely in love with the Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel as it suits my skin in every possible way. However, this one burns a hole in the pocket and is definitely not a product that everyone can afford. So, I was on the lookout for a similar performance for on a budget. I happen to stumble upon the Super Light Gel from Ponds and thought let’s give this one a try.
On the other hand, I was skeptical because it was Ponds. Ponds has never suited my skin and broken me out every now and then. Regardless of what product I use from Ponds, the result is always breakout. However, there were tons of reviews on various beauty websites that spoke about how good this product was for oily skin. So, it was decided I had to try. Keeping aside my past experiences with the brand, I was ready to give this product a second chance. Let’s find out how that went. Packaging Before I delve into a product review, I always explain the packaging. This one will be no exception in this matter as well. It is nice study plastic tub; a flat one but nice. With light blue and white as the color scheme, it is quite indicative that they are trying to say the product is light weight. The tub cam securely shut with a thin foil to cover the product inside. Overall, the packaging is nice. I like it and it is easy to keep on your vanity as well. Love the work here. Quality and Consistency Coming to the actual product, it is indeed a light blue colored gel. This kind of reminds me of the color of the moisturizer from Neutrogena. Yes, it is a straight up dupe from the color of the gel at least. The product is also very light weight. After application and blending, you can hardly feel it on your skin. So, good there as well. But like all other Ponds’ product, this breaks me out, but with a twist. If I apply it on say Sunday, it will not break me out that day, it will break me out on Tuesday. After which if I continue to apply, the acne that has come that goes and then a period of no acne. And then suddenly, next week sometime it will break me out. It is like it has a mind of its own. The moment I feel yes this suits me, it kind of says, “I don’t think so”. It has hyaluronic acid, which is great for oily skin so I believe that is why I can still use it. But what I didn’t notice while purchasing was that it has Vitamin E. This vitamin doesn’t like my skin at all. I have tried Vitamin E creams from various brands and the result has always been same. Except maybe The Body Shops’ Vitamin E cream. I tried a small pouch which came as a free gift and that didn’t break me out but it is too expensive that I don’t want to buy it to check if it really doesn’t break me out. Coming back to this product from Ponds. It does everything it claims. It is lightweight, non-greasy, easy to apply and all good things. But I have mixed opinion towards it. I love it and hate it at the same time. I think it would be good for oily skin but not acne prone skin. That’s it. Since I belong to both, it breaks me now and then. Quantity and Price Point There are two sizes in which this gel is available. 73 gm, which retails for Rs. 149 and 147 gm that retails for Rs. 299. I would recommend you to always try the smaller pack. Check if it suits you or not and then buy the bigger one. If you check Nykaa, Amazon, and Purplle during their sales, you may even save some more money while getting this. Final Thoughts I know it breaks me out. It also has a slight fragrance which is not as good as Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel. However, if you have just oily skin and you do not break out, do try this one out. It have similar formula like the Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel, but at 1/3rd price. So, yes I recommend this product for oily skin people but not for acne prone skin people. Have a small pack with you, try it, and find out whether our thoughts match or not. I am a big fan of masks. They may not be part of everyday skincare regime for me. However, when I include masks in the regime my skin not only enjoys it, but also feels relaxed and nourished. I prefer homemade masks with multani mitti any day over other branded products. However, there are few masks here and there that I genuinely enjoy. So, nowadays I try using new branded masks as well. The latest in the list of my masks is Pore Perfect Clay Mask from Nykaa’s Clay it Cool range. Let’s find out how this one performs.
Packaging This product comes in a tub which is quite befitting for any kind of mask. All the masks from this range is color coded to indicate the components inside. The one in question here has elements of pink and green. I can understand why the green, as it has cucumber in it. However, don’t know why it has pink on it as well. Is this due to the witch hazel extracts in it? Don’t know, as I don’t even know what does this ingredient do or look like. Am assuming it will have hints of pink and that is why they have included this color in the packaging. The lid is black in color which gives the packaging a nice contrast and when you open the product, you get a green colored lid to keep the product secured inside. But the tub is kind of deceiving as the quantity of product inside and the interior base of the product doesn’t seem much. Although from the outside, it looks quite big; kind of indicative of the quantity stored inside. This is one aspect that I didn’t like otherwise the packaging is nice. Consistency and Quality This one has a rich and thick texture, which is a bit difficult to apply on your face, if you are using your fingers. However, with brush it performs quite well. After keeping it on your face for some time you can experience a tingling sensation and when you wash it off, you feel fresh and your skin visibly looks glowing. Witch hazel extract, one of the main ingredients in this mask, claims to help reduce your pore size, fight acne, and minimize damage of your skin that was caused from sun exposure. I don’t know if reduced my pore size much, but yes the pores felt cleaner. I didn’t break out due to this so am happy for that. If I have an active acne I will check how it performs, but minimizing sun damage is something not easily accountable. So, cannot talk about this last bit at all. The other ingredient in this mask is cucumber, which is universally accepted cooling agent for your skin. So, it keeps your skin cool, hydrated, and soothed. Pretty much what was expected out of this ingredient. Hence, can be considered a good mask. Quantity and Price Point You get a 100gm product for Rs. 599, which is expensive in my eyes. After all, this performs okay and not something out of the blue. It is not supremely good for which I would love to pay this amount. I definitely bought it from Nykaa on discount but then also, it feels pricey. Solely because of the fact that there is nothing exceptional about this mask is what makes me reconsider this purchase. Of course I will use this tub as I have invested money in this one but I will not repurchase this at all. Final Thoughts It is just about an average product. You can use it and you may skip it; completely your choice. It didn’t make a lot of difference to my skin so there is no recommendation on this. Moreover, what bugs me is the name. Why is it called clay it cool? Where is the clay involved in this? Not sure that I have answers to any of these questions but this is definitely an okay product. It is not great not bad, just about okay. If you love lipsticks and haven’t tried your hands at any of those from M.A.C, then my dear you are missing out on a lot. On the other hand, if you own a M.A.C. lipstick from the Retro Matte Lipstick range and are scared to wear it owing to its dryness, then also you are missing out on lot. After all, these lipstick being talked about are not cheap. They cost a bomb and instead of collecting and making those showpieces, it is better to put those to good use. All you need are few tips and tricks to wear the lipsticks from the Retro Matte range.
Flower courtesy:Flower photo created by Racool_studio - www.freepik.com Monsoons are the times when everything around you is wet and damp. It gets kind of depressing for me personally to look at the gloomy skies and the continued downpour. Things get a bit more unsettling if you are living in humid countries as the rain amps up the already existing humidity in the air making the entire environment stuffy. To break free from this moist environment and get a boost of freshness and liveliness, I find the NIVEA Waterlily & Oil Shower Gel a great help. A shower with this gel is quite capable of uplifting your spirits and making you feel fresh. So, let’s get into the details of this shower gel, shall we? Packaging All NIVEA shower gels come in beautiful see-through plastic bottles. The one that is particularly in discussion here, has a pink colored see-through bottle with white and blue cap; quite the signature colors of the brand. On the front of the bottle, you get an image of waterlilies and oil to indicate what the shower gel is going to be all about. Lightweight and easy to travel with, the packaging for this is nice. Quality Talking about the actual shower gel, it has care oil pearls that are yellow in color and hence quite visible from the outside as well. That doesn’t mean that they are huge but they are definitely noticeable. These oil pearls are the source of moisturization that helps you keep your skin soft and supple. The beautiful fragrance of this shower gel, which is due to the waterlilies can stimulate your senses. Lather the gel with water and you get a silky soft foam that is gentle on your skin, but capable of effective cleansing. Any day it is better than any soap. The only drawback though, is that the scent doesn’t last on your skin for long. You can enjoy the scent of the waterlilies for some time after which it fades away and sadly, doesn’t linger on. If this can be improved, this will turn into a great product as it is favoring to the pocket as well. Quantity and Price Point For a 250ml bottle, you pay the price of Rs. 199. While for a 125ml bottle, you pay the price of Rs. 125. Now these are already smooth on the pocket and if you check various online portals, like Nykaa, Myntra, Amazon or Flipkart during various discounts, you can save some more money. Final Thoughts Overall a nice product, just that if the scent lasted longer it would have been better. Nonetheless, floral scent, gentle on skin, effective cleanser and easy on the pocket. Quite a good combination here, which I will definitely recommend. Feel Fresh and Nourished with Nivea Body Deodorizer freshpetal & care Range | Nykaa Haul Review7/29/2020 This review is in continuation with the Nykaa Hot Pink Sale haul review on my YouTube channel. In case you have not seen that, you can click the YouTube icon on the cover page of my blog to view that or click here. You can also scroll below to see the video. I have purchased a couple of products in this Nykaa Hot Pink Sale 2020, and one of those products was the freshpetal & care variant from Nivea’s Body Deodorizer range. After using this a couple of times, I am here with my detailed review on this product. So, let’s delve right in. Packaging Coming in the Nivea’s standard deodorant packaging, this has the image of jasmine flowers printed on the body of the bottle. This is to indicate that it belongs to the freshpetal & care range. The bottle is housed in a rectangular plastic tray which is further housed in an outer slide on packaging. Overall, I am quite impressed with the packaging as I have not seen a deodorant being packaged like this by any brand. Talking about the bottle, it is a sleek curved bottle with the same print that of the outer packaging. You can see the image above to get a clear idea. It has a sturdy translucent white cap, which keeps the fragrance tightly shut. The sprayer is different here than other deodorants as this is a bit more concentrated and gas free compared to other usual deodorants. Nothing bad about packaging at all, rather I will say a lot of thought has been invested in the packaging. Scent The fragrance is immensely fresh and floral. Due to the hints of jasmine petals in this deodorant, it smells great. I have never been a fan of Nivea deodorants, as I find their fragrances supremely overpowering. Probably that is why they last well on skin and works great in controlling body odour. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this one is not that overpowering, yet it fights body odour just like the other variants do. So, this is well suited for sensitive noses as well. Being gas free, you get a deodorant that you last for months, but it doesn’t irritate or burn your skin at all. This deodorant has Provitamin B5, which keeps your skin nourished and hydrated. So, that’s another amazing aspect of this deodorant. Longevity and Silage It claims to last on skin for 24 hours and I can vouch for the fact it surely does cover a good 15 or 16 hours, since rest of the hours are spent on sleeping; cannot really say anything about that. Since this is a deodorant, the silage will not be a factor at all. After all, it is supposed to keep you fresh and odour free throughout the day and not project like a perfume. So, I have nothing to say on this factor. Quantity and Price Point For a good 120ml bottle, the marked price is Rs. 250. But, in the Hot Pink Sale from Nykaa, I got it at a good discount of Rs. 163. You can also check out Amazon, Flipkart and Purplle for this deodorant as sales are usually running on these websites round the year. You can save some money when you make your purchase during the sale time. Final Thoughts There is only pros to this deodorant. I have experienced no cons to talk about. It is a great deodorant, which does its job perfectly and doesn’t burn a hole in the pocket as well. So, I will highly recommend this to everyone. |
