Anyone who invests in a perfume looks forward to a long lasting impression of that fragrance. There are some in the market which costs a bomb but fail to perform as per expectation. On the other hand, there are also some that doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket and give quite a good performance. The second sort are the keepers which every perfume aficionado looks for. Today, I am here to share my opinion whether Arise EDT for men from the house of All Good Scents fall into the first or the second category.
Packaging Like I start my reviews, here also let me talk about the packaging first. Classic. That’s it. A glass bottle with a golden colored liquid and a brown steely cap on top of it just makes the entire look classy for any display. The bottle is heavy as the glass seems of pretty good quality. Overall, quite nice when it comes to the packaging. Nothing out of the ordinary, but works well. Scent Now coming to the actual scent. Let’s cover the notes first. The top notes of this perfume comprises orange, grapefruit and pepper. The heart notes include patchouli, geranium leaves and rose bay. At the base, it has got benzoin, vetiver and atlas ceder. From the notes itself, it is clear that this is a citrusy and woody fragrance. From the first spritz itself you can smell the strong masculine vibe of this scent. It opens with the zesty, citrusy, tangy burst and gradually it settles down into a more mature and enigmatic woody base. It surely knows how to create the first impression right. Longevity and Silage Definitely something that can draw a lot of attention from ladies as it is hard to miss. Quite strong in nature, people will definitely notice it if you wear this and walk among them. The only bummer in this wonderful creation is the longevity. It is an EDT, which kind of indicates that it won’t be extremely long lasting, but on my husband’s skin it lasted for not more than 2 hrs. Though on the clothes it lasts quite long. From the first sniff, I expected this to last really long as it has a strong opening. However, it fails to live up to the expectation on the longevity part. Quantity and Price Point This one comes in a 50 ml bottle which is priced at Rs. 999. Yes, it sounds a little bit expensive if you look at it from the longevity perspective. However, if you can ignore that and be ready to carry it around with you in a small decant, then you should be good to go. Moreover, this didn’t last great on my husband’s skin, but it may surely do great on your skin as longevity depends heavily on body chemistry as well. All Good Scents does not have a huge offline presence at least where I live. So, the option is only online shopping for this and you can save some money as well if you buy it from Flipkart, Nykaa, Amazon or allgoodscents.com. Final Thoughts Well, a good perfume; a strong perfume indeed. However, according to me it cannot be fitted into the two categories I spoke about in the intro. This is kind of a third category which doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket, smells great but fails to perform as expected. Having said that I will also say that you need to give this a try at least once. As the scent is amazing and you can also check if this suits your personality and body chemistry better or not. Have you seen few people who walk by and make every heads turn? They have an inherent effect on others who feel distracted by the scent these exquisite people are wearing; though in the most inoffensive way possible. Now you can get it for yourself as well with Distraction Pour Femme Parfum Deodorant from the house of Ajmal. Being parfum deodorant, this sprays like a deodorant but lasts kind of like a perfume. The juice inside this bottle is stronger in comparison to your everyday deodorant.
Packaging Let’s find out about the packaging first before we dive into the scent. It comes in a regular deodorant bottle which is covered in purple color; the color of royalty. It has a simple translucent purple cap as well, which is quite sturdy. This has a good spray which distributes the liquid quite evenly on your skin. Scent Coming to the actual scent, this is considered to be a floral, woody and fresh fragrance. However, I can smell powdery notes in this as well. The opening has a burst of delicate florals, citrus and fresh notes which can immediately uplift your senses. This is followed by feminine and fresh notes, which give this scent its sensuality. Finally the base notes include woody and musky notes that emanates warmth and self-confidence in the person wearing it. Longevity and Silage Talking about longevity of a deodorant, one can expect it to last on the skin for about maximum of 2-3 hours post which re-application is required. However, since this is a parfum deodorant, it has slightly better power than your regular deodorant. So, on my skin it lasts about more than 4-5 hours. Of course, this will vary based on the body chemistry and climatic condition of the wearer. For now, it works quite marvelous for a deodorant. It has a decent silage as well. It leaves a powdery and woody trail that people around you will pick up. Moreover, if you spray this on your clothes, you might be able to smell it next day as well. Price Point This one is priced at decent Rs. 225 for a 150 ml bottle. Which I find is quite a good price in itself for the quantity and the quality of the product. However, if you buy online from Amazon or Flipkart, you may be able to bag some additional discount on this. Ajmal is now-a-days easily available on all departmental stores. They either have a kiosk or a separate segment dedicated to them inside stores, where you can try a bunch of products from them. So, after the lockdown period is over, you can try some of their fragrances and indulge in the middle-eastern scents they offer. Final Thoughts Overall, quite a nice fragrance especially at the price point. However, it is definitely something that is for the matured woman, who is confident, ambitious and knows what she want from life. Although every scent can be worn by anyone who wants to and can pull it off. However, according to me it is not a deodorant that a teenager is likely to pick up. So, if you are a teenager who can rock matured fragrances, give this one a try. Am sure, you will find this one a keeper. For women of other age group, feel free to give this one a try. Trust me it will not be a regret purchase for you. If you are looking for a fragrance that boasts of feminine sweetness and confidence, then you can give United Dreams range of perfumes from United Colors of Benetton a try. This range includes three variants of which I currently possess just one – Together for Her EDT. The other two, namely Love Yourself and Live Free will soon join my collection once the lockdown period is over. Till then, I can share my opinion on the Together for Her variant.
Packaging Before I delve deep into the fragrance, I want to spare few words on the packaging of this product. If you are one of those people who only care about the juice inside the bottle, you will have to read few lines after this section to know about it. The bottle is a hard metal bottle and not some cheap plastic which is designed to give this fragrance a classy look. It has a ombre theme going on which starts from a beautiful red, transcends into copper and then finally ends in steel color. It has a sturdy cap which is tightly shut, ensuring there is no leakage of the perfume. The top of the cap has the logo of Benetton embossed on it. Overall, the packaging of this perfume is stunning and it will look amazing on anybody’s vanity. Scent Moving on to the actual juice of the fragrance; this is simply a fruity, floral and gourmand fragrance. Although during my research, I have seen few websites considering this as an oriental fragrance, I cannot consider this as oriental. The basic note of amber which makes any fragrance to be labelled as oriental is not present in this one. Rather, to my nose this is a sweet, fruity, floral and edible gourmand fragrance. The main accords of this perfume include everything I said above with an addition of citrus and powdery notes. Owing to a mix of accords, this fragrance can be safely termed as a crowd pleaser. Anybody who applies this will surely please everyone around. It is one of the most non-offensive or polarizing perfume. Notes The top notes of this perfume include bergamot, blackcurrant and peach. The middle notes include magnolia, rose, jasmine and pink pepper. The base notes include cedarwood, praline, vanilla and musk. It is due to these praline and vanilla notes, the perfume smells almost edible. While magnolia, rose and jasmine lend the floral elements in this one, the bergamot, pink pepper, peach and blackcurrent gives it a fruity zest. Longevity and Silage With all the good notes, this perfume lasts a good 5-6 hours on my skin. Considering this is an EDT (eau de toilette), it is quite good. However, this depends on your body chemistry and the climatic conditions you are in. I once applied it in the evening and it was not that much humid, I could smell it on myself even the next morning. But in a humid climate, it lasts for not more than 5hrs on my skin. However, it holds on to clothes like there is no tomorrow. So, you can apply this on your clothes once and get to smell it later on as well. The only bummer is this perfume is the silage. It projects only to a few metres. So, people around you will be able to smell it, but someone distant won’t even notice it. If this is something taken care of by United Colors of Benetton, then this will become one of the most sought after perfumes. Pricing and Size This perfume comes in two sizes - 50ml and 80ml. The 50ml is priced at Rs. 1400, while the 80ml has a price tag of Rs. 1900. These essentially don’t fall into the affordable bracket, but given the splendid fragrance of this perfume, I am ready to spend my money on this one. Just, it would be more appropriate if the silage can be improved. You can get this perfume at every departmental store around you. However, you can save up on some cash, if you purchase it online from Nykaa, Myntra or Amazon. If you don’t want to spend this amount, you can try the body spray of the same variant from Flipkart. It is available in 150ml at a price point of Rs. 390 or less, depending on the discount available. You can try this and if you feel satisfied using this, do give the EDT a try. Final Thoughts Surely, a great fragrance bottled up in a great package. The only aspect to work upon is the silage. If this is improved, this one will turn into an awesome fragrance which will be hard to ignore. When we think about United Colors of Benetton, shoes, jackets, and dresses flood our mind. Same for me as well. Until recently, when I discovered their awesome range of fragrances. I may be late in this discovery and you may be already aware of their collection of perfumes but in the interest of this review, let’s keep the excitement alive. I am going to review today the perfume called Hot from United Colors of Benetton.
Now, you may wonder why did I select this one to be my first UCB perfume for a review. The answer is pretty simple. I heard from someone, did some research and found out that this one is considered dupe for the Chanel Allure perfume. Although, I have never smelt Chanel Allure I got curious about this one. So, I thought let me give it a try; if not to try the dupe factor but to experience how good this perfume is. But before I get into the fragrance, I want to take a moment to adore the packaging of this perfume. It is a fairly simple see-through glass bottle with a transparent liquid inside it. But, it turns quirky when you look at the cap. It has a tap for a cap. You have to twist this fragrance to one side and spritz. How cool is that! Keeping up with the name of the perfume, the cap is in red color; apparently the color of hotness. Coming to the fragrance. This is quite a shocker for me as the main accords in this perfume is woody, powdery, oriental and citrus with a little bit of balsamic, vanilla and floral accords. I am not much of a woody person, but this – oh my god! This one is incredible. It is such a delicate perfume that will make you smell this from the bottle again and again. It is may be because of the amber in it, I can enjoy the powdery and woody notes. Launched way back in 1997, I think this is quite a great fragrance, which is now added to my kitty. The top notes of this one include mandarin orange, bergamot, Brazilian rosewood and lemon. The middle notes are iris, apricot, lily-of-the-valley and water jasmine, and the base notes comprise amber, sandalwood, musk, vanilla, cedar and oakmoss. Of all the note I can smell amber, musk, vanilla, sandalwood and water jasmine. The top notes in this perfume don’t stay on my skin for long so I cannot recognize those a lot. However, the middle and base notes linger on my skin for quite a decent time. Depending on the climatic situation you are in right now, this perfume may perform differently. I live in quite a humid country so it lasts for 3-4 hours on my skin after which I have to reapply this. Which I don’t mind. Now, coming to the dupe factor. I really don’t know whether it is a dupe for Chanel Allure but I can vouch for it that in the dry run of this perfume, this reminds me of Versace’s Bright Crystal. It may be because of the common notes of amber and musk in Bright Crystal that makes it smell similar. I don’t know but it surely does some magic on my skin, which I simply adore. Regardless of the fact whether it is Bright Crystal or Allure dupe, this one is a perfume you can surely give a try especially for the price point of Rs. 1299. This is way more affordable than the pricey comparisons I am referring to. Although, you can get this easily available at stores, you can get an additional discount on this if you buy this online from Amazon or Flipkart. So, next time when you look out for perfumes, I suggest you give this one a sniff at a store or grab a small bottle of this to experience the scent in it. It is a fact that Chanel perfumes have a class and mass appeal blended into one. Almost every perfume aficionado around the world desires to have some of the Chanel fragrances as a part of their collection. No matter how good they are, they come with a whooping price tag. This may not come as a feasible option for most people. So, what can you do? Just go on wishing to have a Chanel fragrance in your collection and pine for it? Or you can settle down for a dupe.
Now, when I can say dupe, I am not vouching for duplicate Chanel fragrances anyway. Am not promoting first copy or second copy of the fragrances as your option. God only know what goes into them and nobody is certain about how harmful those are for your skin. So, when that option is ruled out, you can go for dupes which have more or less the same combination of notes. These may offer you a similar experience without punching a hole in your pocket. With that said, I want to share with you information on a dupe that I have recently discovered – Club de nuit from the house of Armaf. This happens to be a dupe of Chanel No. 5 perfume. From the moment I came to know about it, I wanted to have a bottle of this fragrance for me. I already have a sample size of Chanel No. 5 which was a gift. So, I can very well compare and give you my opinion on the same. Club de Nuit comes in four variants for women and it has the same range for men as well. Since there are four options to choose from, I was confused as to which one should I buy first? There is a deodorant, a body spray/splash, an eau de parfum (EDP) and an intense version of the same. So, I finally settled down for the body spray as I wanted to try this perfume and yet not invest a lot of money in doing so. The body spray comes in a huge bottle of 250 ml which will last you quite long. The bottle and its cap is made of plastic, which makes it easy for you to carry around. The color of the liquid inside the bottle is of a beautiful rose gold tint and the smell is to die for. Trust me it is so so much like Chanel No. 5 that you can easily pass as wearing the perfume. The only limitation of this fragrance is that after few hours it becomes a skin scent. You will be able to smell it and revel in it but others won’t. Now, whether this is just the body spray or for the entire range, I don’t know. I will have to try each of the variant to be certain. At least for now I don’t have to invest in a full size bottle of Chanel No.5 and I can very well use this fruity, floral, elegant and calm scent from Armaf. The notes in this perfume include bergamot, peach, orange and grapefruit as the top, rose, jasmine, geranium and litchi at its heart, and vanilla, patchouli, musk and vetiver as its base. Now, why does this perfume smell as Chanel No. 5? Because of the common notes of bergamot at top, jasmine and rose at the middle, and pretty much the same base notes included in both the fragrances. And what’s more, you don’t have to burn a hole into your pocket for this perfume? It is priced decently at Rs. 599 and you can get additional discounts if you buy this from Flipkart or Nykaa. So, once everything settles down with COVID – 19 and we are back again on our toes, ready to get on with life, do give this fragrance a chance. Am sure it can instill a fresh lease of life, confidence and pleasure in you. |
